Daniel is both a fellow Canuck* and animator/illustrator, and while his tutorials on the techniques I was investigating were fantastic, so was his overall portfolio. Virgin Radio - Again!

Here's a spot I produced, edited, and animated for the good folks at Astral Media and Virgin Radio.  It's now my fourth campaign on Virgin.  The 'jokes' you see represented in text form are taken directly from Virgin's pre-existing outdoor campaign. (as pictured above).  This is one version of the ad that will play in multiple cities across the Virgin network of stations.

These were fun spots to work on, as I got to do some editing, rather than just the strict motion graphics that I normally end up doing.  Editing was my first love in this business, and it's fun to run around with an old flame every now and then.

I'm particularly fond of the sound design in this spot, done for me by Sebastien Breton.  He did a very creative job bringing the animation to life.

Ontario Association of Broadcasters

Here's a piece I just finished for the Ontario Association of Broadcasters.  It was an intro piece to their yearly gala event, as well as a promo for their website.

I designed, animated and produced this spot, as well as some other animations for the event.  I also redesigned their logo for them.

This is a piece I recently completed for Hatch Animation in Nova Scotia, with Mike Hachey and Julian Marentette as producers.

I designed the concept based on a script provided by Hatch.

Storyboard design, illustration, animation done by Goodspeed Productions. 3D text animation by Stephen Blacker at Hatch.

I'm very happy with the way this spot turned out, as the client was initially hesitant based on the dark visual style.

Thankfully, with a little creative nudging from myself and the producers, the spot ended up looking almost exactly how I conceived it.

The client wanted high tech, but as I laughed about later when I realized it, whenever I hear 'high-tech' my mind immediately goes to 'retro-high-tech', and that's what I designed. While I'm sure that's not what they originally wanted, this project had absolutely the fewest revisions of anything I've worked on.
