Here's a smattering of my particular brand of nonsense, laid out in a neat and tidy sampler.  Try a taste of this, perhaps a smidgen of that; by reading these choice few articles, or listening to these podcasts, you'll get a sense for what this blog is all about.

Only then can you make the educated decision to never come back again.

Vision - A Plea to Save the James Webb Space Telescope

Vis

My submission to the Save the James Webb Space Telescope initiative's video competition. And what do you know? It won! Check it out (just over a minute long!) and spread the word. It's for a very good cause.

Planets

My most popular post.  This is a minute-long animation based on a thought experiment I devised when looking at a lunar eclipse. When observing the curvature of the earth's shadow on the moon I noticed how large it was.  It made me wonder what the earth would look like if a copy of it orbited us at the same distance as the moon.

Then I stopped wondering and got animating.

A Love Song for Love Songs

Lovesong3

This is a 13 minute documentary I wrote and edited based on a previous podcast, concerning the relationship between two very different manifestations of the human intellect; those being art and science.

While it was meant as my personal assessment of the importance these things have in my life, by subjectively weighing music slightly over science I worry that I may have inadvertently dipped one toe into the world of new-age pseudo-babble.  This of course was not my intention, and this is why I consider 'Love Songs' to be my most misunderstood post as well.  I think I may need to write a companion article soon to get at some of the finer points of contention, and make more precisely clear just what I meant to say.

Rejecting Religion Openly, and Being Polite About it

Polite

Atheists are perhaps the most universally loathed minority in modern history. We can't get elected, respected, or even heard. Can this change? And if so, how?

Whatever Happened to Conversation?

Madmen

Perhaps my most personal post, but don't let that scare you! Help me figure out whether a television character is responsible for the shallow discourse to be overheard at pubs nowadays, or if perhaps there's something deeper going on. Has mankind lost their talent for conversation? And if there's nobody decent to talk to, what's the point of living at all? (Trust me, it's not as melancholy as it sounds)

Skep
The philosophy I find that best describes the world for me is skepticism, and this article is my attempt at defining it.  In this example of the more philosophically-bent posts on Brad Blogspeed, find out what skepticism is, what it tells us about the Universe, and how we can benefit from it.

Top Secret Agents

Banner4agency
This one time you're right. You ARE being watched. There ARE malicious agents all around you. They can devour you, and the only way to avoid them is to understand what they want.

Designing Darkness

Dd2

Reflections on the state of our environment after watching a meteor shower.  Man's ability to make things got us into this mess, but can it also get us out?  Is it time to stop pretending that there aren't real choices we can make; choices that could strengthen the prospect of our survival on this world?  If we're smart enough, can we identify what changes need to be made, and design the very way we behave as a species?

As stated in the piece, sacred cows must not be tolerated in the face of losing the field upon which they graze.

Sex With Teenagers

Sexteen
At some point in recent years I made an alarming discovery; I'm getting older!  What's worse is that apparently science has yet to develop a cure.

In the meantime, read me wax poetic about the process of witnessing one's own bones become creaky... and I do mean all of them.

Bad Boys, Mystery Men

Mystery
Another podcast, (audio only this time) discussing why adults are so damn boring, and what evolution might have to say about it.  This post is yet another example of me criticizing the people of earth for not being exactly how I would want them.  Deal.
