Poster-Quote #2
Are you up to it? Do you know—or do you have the ability to find out—who originally spoke or wrote this line? Despite thorough Google searches (at least as thorough as can be expected of a person with as low an attention span as I) I'm without an answer.
Here's a hint. I know I heard it on an episode of the
Skeptic's Guide to the Universe once, and I'm probably remembering the precise phrasing incorrectly. But damn if it doesn't sum up the perfect reason for living skeptically to me. The quote has been back at the top of my mind ever since I had an opportunity to use it in my post '
I'm Bad at Math', and since it's also one of my perpetual favourites, I thought I'd make it in to the second ever Brad Blogspeed '
Poster-Quote'. Scroll to the very bottom for the whole image. (sized for web)
In the effort to figure out the source of the quote, (because I'm sure not going back through old SGU episodes) I'm putting it out there to you! First comment with a helpful answer wins a set of steak knives. And the first commenter that gets that movie reference, (and also the fact that I'm joking about any prize being awarded at all) wins a Cadillac.
Truth be told, the real reason for this post was because I wanted to try my hand at the captivating design style of
James White, so the image below doubles as my humblest emulation of his fine work. But none of that stops you from being a winner! The contest (which in case you didn't understand from my previous joke, offers NO prizes whatsoever) is now on... Good luck!
